Kingswood Big Band is a 17-piece jazz band that rehearses weekly in the Kingswood Village Club. We play jazz music, mainly in the style of traditional big band music, written by composers such as Sammy Nestico and Neal Hefti. Bill Geldard, our musical director, has played the trombone in the RAF Central Band, before being a member of the famous Ted Heath Band.
Our next dance will be held on Saturday the 18th of June at the Banstead Community Hall.
Dancers of all levels are welcome, as well as non-dancers. We will be playing dance music of many styles, such as waltz, rock ‘n’ roll, cha-cha, tango and quickstep, and some of the most popular big band classics, such as ‘In the Mood’ and ‘String of Pearls’.
Doors open at 19:30 for a 20:00 start. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink.
