TWOAT (Tadworth & Walton Overseas Aid Trust) is a local charity, raising funds in Tadworth, Walton and Kingswood, that provides support to small-scale overseas aid projects with direct connections to this area. Typically this means projects run by people who have lived in this area or who have friends or relatives here and who can identify opportunities to fund improvements for some of the poorest communities in the world. We ensure that funding goes directly to each project.
Our Mission
Is to give financial support, in some cases a regular commitment, to small scale overseas aid projects that can create a long lasting benefit.
The Projects we support
We find that relatively small sums of money can make a huge difference, especially in the fields of health, agriculture and education.
- For £1,500 per year we cover the cost of running an Epilepsy clinic in a rural hospital in Tanzania including drugs, wages and a motorcycle for the clinician to visit remote villages
- By providing under £500 we helped 6 African families to obtain access to fields with water brought by pipeline from Lake Malawi together with seeds to grow enough food to feed themselves.
- We pay for School Lunches for 150 refugee children from Myanmar living in a camp on the Thai border.
You can see details of all the projects we currently support on our web site http://twoat.org/ .
Approaching £500,000 raised
Since it was founded in 1982 TWOAT has been able to provide approaching £500,000 worth of aid for over 220 projects in many of the poorest parts of the world.
