Outing to West Wycombe

June 6 @ 9:15 am

PARISH EVENTS COMMITTEE
Thursday 6th June

Join us for a day in the beautiful Chiltern Hills and discover the treasures of the Dashwood Estate.

West Wycombe House, set in a 45 acre of landscaped park, is a Palladian gem built in the 18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood, the 2nd baronet, founder of the Dilettanti Society and of the notorious Hell Fire Club. It has been used as a film location on many occasions for television and film productions. Among the latest ones are Endeavour, Howards End, Patrick Melrose and The Crown.

On the opposite hill is St. Lawrence’s Church, a building of medieval origin, which received a makeover in the 18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood. The church overlooks the picturesque West Wycombe Village, with its well preserved façades of original 16th-18th century buildings, owned and maintained by the National Trust.

Our coach will leave from St. Andrew’s Church at 9.15 a.m. and from the bus stop after The Fox, in Lower Kingswood, shortly afterwards. We have included a morning visit of the church, followed by a light buffet lunch in the village and a guided tour of the house in the afternoon. Morning refreshments with homemade cakes at the church are also included.

Price per person: £37 for National Trust members and £45 for non-members. Cheques to be made payable to: Kingswood Parish Events Committee please.

NATIONAL TRUST MEMBERS: PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARDS ON THE DAY.

For more information and to book a place please contact Pia Chamberlain on 01737 832003.
