1. M25/Jctn 8 A217 Highways England Proposed Works
An update from Surrey County Councilor – Jeff Harris
“I have now managed to get official confirmation that Highways England are postponing the works scheduled to start next month, which in combination with other ongoing and planned works would have been a nightmare for our local residents across the Borough”.
“It seems the original budget is now insufficient for the project and it will now be considered for future funding. That could well be into the new financial year. Whether the input from Cllrs Bob Gardner , Zully Grant-Duff and I on behalf of the Local residents made any difference, we can never know, but the good news at the moment is that the scheme is not starting in January, and will not coincide with other planned works such as Reigate Hill, Headley SES works, etc”.
2. New Timetable for GWR (Great Western Railway)
The new timetable for GWR comes into force on 12 December, which will mean an extra train across the Reigate Hill level crossing in each direction. This means the road will be closed for 18 minutes each hour instead of the current 12 minutes. Please allow more time for your journeys. Because of queuing, it is suggested allowing an extra 10 minutes, rather than 6.
