The Royal British Legion 100th anniversary

The Royal British Legion 1921 – 2021

The Royal British Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary this May.

The KRA is proud to be supporting the 100th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion on the 15th May. Our ‘poppy’ team have been busy tying up large Poppies on the lampposts along the Kingswood stretch of the A 217 and also on the trees in the Tadworth Roundabout,

“There will be national and regional events on the 15th May, including the one in London, and at Guildford cathedral. Sadly, few of us will be able to attend these, so on this important anniversary, the Banstead and District RBL Branch will also be holding a short, private, commemorative service, after which the All Saints bells will toll 100, and the Mayor will lay a commemorative wreath at the War Memorial.

As you will be aware, the Covid rules mean that numbers have to be strictly limited so we are unable to make a general invitation, but a small display has been raised in The Orchard, Banstead High Street.

The Banstead and District RBL are grateful to the scores of helpers and volunteers who have also put large Poppies on the lampposts along much of the A217 in the north of our Borough, and along Banstead High Street, Tadworth, Walton and Kingswood to demonstrate our local support for the Legion.
