Surrey Artists Open Studios 2016

Over 300 Surrey Artists to search, visit and inspire…..

The Summer Open Studios offer the public access to artists and makers and gives a valuable insight into how artwork is produced. For 16 days the summer event is all about visiting studios, meeting artists and makers, seeing them at work, browsing completed works and seeing work in progress, and even trying your hand at making something for yourself.

Studio locations are throughout Surrey and around its borders.  Studios will be open between Saturday 4th June and Sunday 19th June 2016.

Details of individual open times will be available online and also detailed in the brochure from May 2016.

Local Artist Alison Saunders will be taking part in the Surrey Artists’ Open Studio scheme this year
along with fellow photographer Chris Lemon.

Alison is an award winning artist producing works in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, silk painting, encaustic, mixed media, print making and glass fusing. Alison recently won a commission to decorate a full size fibre glass cow for the company NaviSite, a cloud company which is part of the Time Warner Group, and this is due to be displayed in the grounds of Hampton Court this summer.

Chris’s work, highlighting a different look at urban and transport environments, was quickly recognised by a major UK rail network and subsequent published commissions followed. This continues to be a theme of his work, but he has also expanded into architectural and structural imagery amongst other subjects.

Alison has lived in Kingswood for about five years and this is the first time she is opening her studio as part of the Surrey Artists Open Studio scheme.

Demonstrations will take place during the open studio at Gullfoss, The Glade, Kingswood. (on the corner of The Glade and Outwood Lane). tel: 01737 830439

Opening times will be 11am – 5pm on 4th & 5th June, 11th & 12th June and 17th, 18th & 19th June

Additionally the studio will be open from 6pm – 8.30pm on Thursday 16th June.
