The KRA has just received the following advice from Surrey Police and we pass this on to you now.
A recent warning to Surrey Police highlighted an established guise used by unscrupulous people in an attempt to gain entry to your home and steal valuables.
The most common guise used is for people to claim to be from the water board who have to enter your home.
The water board do not exist
We have water utility companies
They offer a free password scheme to customers
Telephone your water utility company now and ask for the password scheme
Do not let any unknown person into your home
Ask for them to come back another time to allow you to be supported should they return
Use the Surrey Trading Standards ‘No Cold Caller’ sticker on you front door
If the caller refuses to leave call 999 for police to attend
If you have any worries or concerns please call 101 for further advice
