A message from Mike Fox:
“You may have seen a report last summer that Tadworth resident John Allinson had been awarded an MBE for his work for good causes and in particular for helping to create Tadworth & Walton Overseas Aid Trust (TWOAT) for which he became the first Chairman over thirty years ago. Sadly since then John has become seriously ill with cancer and was unable to attend Buckingham Palace on December 8 when the Queen would have presented him with his MBE. As John is now bedridden at his home in Tadworth I was privileged in my role as current Chair of TWOAT to have been invited by his family on Saturday Feb 3rd to present the MBE medal to him which had recently arrived from the palace by post. Although he can only now speak in a whisper John was still modestly insisting that the award was really to all the people who have helped TWOAT raise funds to support so many impoverished communities and individuals around the world.”
TWOAT’s annual street collection will be taking place on April 13th and 14th this year.
TWOAT is pleased to announce that they will be collaborating again with members from St Cecilia Chorus to put on a dinner with singing in the Good Shepherd Hall on Saturday 21st April. Tickets will be £15 each. TWOAT expect demand to be high for this event so please let a committee member know well in advance if you would like to attend – Mike Fox can be contacted on 01737 350452.
