TWOAT News – October 2017

Tadworth & Walton Overseas Aid Trust

Some 60 Fashionistas turned up to the Ladies’ Fashion Show at the Riddell Hall which was jointly organised by TWOAT and the Friends of Walton Primary School on Thursday Sept 28th. After a very entertaining evening managed by show organisers “Travelling Trends” with 3 volunteer models displaying a wide range of clothing and accessories, around £700 was raised to be shared between the two charities. Many thanks go to Mary Heath, for TWOAT and Nina Flatt, for the Friends of Walton Primary School, who were the two local organisers.

Banstead Rotary Club kindly invited Mike Fox, Chair of TWOAT, to talk at one of their meetings. Following a convivial dinner, Mike’s presentation concerned schools that TWOAT supports in Nepal, Madagascar and in a camp for refugees from Myanmar and a medical project in West Papua. TWOAT was then generously presented with a cheque made out for £100. The Banstead Rotarians have a sub-group that selects an overseas aid project to support each year and it is hoped that the two organisations might be able to collaborate in future in identifying projects that local people would consider worthy of support. TWOAT is hoping to arrange a couple of Carol Singing events in December so please keep an eye on their web site or contact Mike Fox on 01737 350452 for further details.
