The following Diamond Jubilee celebration events were held at St Andrew’s Church.
Celebration Concert
On Friday 1 June, the events opened with a concert of popular and classical vocal, choral and instrumental music on Friday evening at St Andrew’s Church. The church was full, and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Flower Festival
For three days during the weekend, the church hosted a flower festival and was filled with beautiful and sweet smelling flowers.
Great skill and imagination was demonstrated by local individuals and groups in creating celebratory displays. There was even an appearance by a tennis racquet with a ball made from flowers.
As well as enjoying the flowers, many of us tucked into the cream teas and cakes. We were shown how the bells are rung – some of us were even able to have a go at bell ringing for the first time.
