During the Second World War a friendly spirit pervaded the people of Kingswood and Tadworth. Most were members of one Defence Service or another and the comradeship which resulted, it was felt, should be preserved when peace returned. A few enthusiasts got together to see what could be done with this end in view.
It was members of the 13th Platoon of the Home Guard who first proposed the idea of a society and so it was agreed that it should be called The Thirteen Society.
Meetings were arranged, rules drawn up and our regular monthly talks (October to March) began on July 20th 1945, and are now held in the evening of the fourth Tuesday in the month at Kingswood Village Hall.
The membership totals just over 90. The 2023 annual subscription is £20. Visitors are always very welcome and will be asked for a £7.50 visitor’s fee per meeting.
Please click to view the The Thirteen Society Programme 2023-2024 which commences on Tuesday 26th September 2023 at 8:00pm.

- 8.45 pm – Coffee
- 9.05 pm – Talk continues and questions
