Kingswood 100 – The Coronation ‘Big Lunch’

The Palace is asking communities to celebrate the Coronation

with a ‘Big Lunch’ on Sunday 7th May.

Being a colder and less predictable month than June, rather than holding a single open-air street party, we want to encourage you to invite friends and neighbours for lunch on the 7th – in gardens, under gazebos, or indoors if the weather is inclement. Our target is 100 or more lunch parties in Kingswood, hence why we’re calling this the Kingswood 100.

We have produced free high-quality themed invitation cards for you to send to friends and neighbours and we’ll be sourcing a range of Coronation themed items (bunting, balloons, napkins etc) for you to use. You can hold a big ‘bring and share’ event if you like, or simply invite a few close friends for lunch – whatever works best for you. We won’t publicise your event, it’s up to you to invite who you want. But please do take pictures on the day (we can send a photographer if you like) and we’ll include pictures of your event in a record of the day and a special edition of The Village Voice.

To register (with no obligation) simply email us at kw100coronation@gmail.com and we’ll get in touch to give you the invitation cards and envelopes you’ll need to get started.

Other celebrations and events around the Coronation weekend are being planned too – such as a Coronation Quiz Night on Friday 5th. We’ll send details of these events in due course.

This is a chance to be a part of Kingswood’s history. Let’s make this a huge celebration.
